Edited by: Gracies Wrath on 15/05/2006 00:35:56 I switched from flying Minnie ships to Amarr once I realized that Crystals can swap out as the badguys close on your ship and you can wipe them out as they walk deeper into your web of death. And when I went looking at ship setups, I saw everyone suggesting to use PULSE vs. BEAM. WHY? I'm not sure I understand the mathematics or the thoughts behind this, but don't beams dish out more death? Or is it all about the tracking involved? My prophecy floats with 4 Beams and 2 pulse due to cap needs, otherwise I'd have all beams on that bird. Can someone explain to this 1 year old why everyone likes pulse so much? Thanks! ----------------------------------- F em all but 9 6 to carry my casket, 2 for roadguards and 1 to call cadence. |

I fly a prophecy with 4 heavy beams (the expensive ones) and 2 pulses... and I like the damage I deal with the beams... and with a webber on there, I can slow down the damn frigates enough to tear them apart with my drones and assault missile launcher... and since the prophecy is so slow... its inevitable that rats are gonna get up close and personal on you. but the Beams just tear them apart!
however I just got my hands on a Sacrilege and love having the heavies to toss around at the long rangers... and oh the RANGE I can get on that bastard. ----------------------------------- F em all but 9 6 to carry my casket, 2 for roadguards and 1 to call cadence. |

Ehm, if you're using a webber to slow down your enemies enough to kill them with beams, that means they're in web range so they're in pulse range = beams are useless
I disagree partially. Beams work fine for me down there close for the most part... but I have mostly 4's and 5's in my skills to get my guns on target. ----------------------------------- F em all but 9 6 to carry my casket, 2 for roadguards and 1 to call cadence. |

Thanks so much. I appreciate the answers. With my slow ass Prophecy i'd warp in at whatever distances if I could, but most of the deadspace sites drop you right into the killzone <20km and I'd just slowly wade out. and I like the sound of popping hulls a lot better when they come right away, but ROF really does make a difference if you're sitting on a LOT of them really quick. Thanks again. ----------------------------------- F em all but 9 6 to carry my casket, 2 for roadguards and 1 to call cadence. |
